That is why we are thrilled to announce the completion of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Service Organization Control (SOC 2) Type I audit.
SOC 2 is an attestation report conducted by an independent auditor and is largely recognized as the gold standard for information security within the software as a service (SaaS) industry. It ensures that controls are in place to safeguard the privacy of our customers and their data in accordance with the AICPA’s guidelines.
The SOC 2 audit focuses on five categories known as Trust Service Criteria, including security, availability, confidentiality, processing integrity, and privacy.
After six months of rigorous audits of Variphy Cloud, we reached compliance with SOC 2 standards on February 16, 2022.
“With our teams continuing to expand our offerings and move into exciting new spaces like Cloud, we knew it was important that our customers feel their data is in good hands,” said Dan Schmitt, director of operations. “Data security has been our focus, and SOC 2 compliance is one of many ways we show our commitment to our customers.”
As we move forward, we continue to commit to our customers and the information they entrust to us. Variphy will take part in annual audits to maintain our compliance with SOC 2 to keep up with the highest standards in data security.
It was recently discovered that a ubiquitous Java logging tool, Log4j, contains a serious vulnerability, which jeopardizes the data of enterprises and individuals that utilize this software.
Is this a big deal?
While this security vulnerability is massive in scope, at this time it does not affect any Variphy on-premises customers. The current vulnerability only exists for applications using Log4j version 2. Currently, the Variphy on-premise install base uses an earlier version of Log4j, version 1.2.17.
Has it been fixed?
Since Variphy does not use the affected version, there is no action required at this time for on-premises customers. For any of our Variphy Cloud customers, the Variphy team has quickly patch-fixed all components using the affected Log4j versions. In addition, we have not detected any successful exploitation attempts before the vulnerability became public.
Our team will continue to monitor the situation. The Variphy Development Team has decided to move to Log4j, version 2.16.0, which has already addressed this exploit, for future software versions.
